Employee Giving Campaign

Employee Giving Campaign

Employees of Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital may contribute to the Foundation through the annual Employee Giving Campaign. As we work together to meet the changing healthcare needs of our community, we ask for employee support of the annual fund which helps us to ensure that we can be responsive to the ongoing and immediate needs of our patients.

Currently, the Employee Giving Campaign Committee has set a goal of $40,000 in new gifts to be applied to the Patient Needs Scholarship Fund**. This fund was developed in 1999 to ease the financial burden of patients in need of medical rehabilitation services, yet who may not have adequate financial resources or insurance coverage.

The Patient Needs Scholarship program, administered through our social work department, uses an objective screening process to determine a patient's eligibility. Patients within all hospital programs and services qualify for consideration based on need. Disbursements from this fund are made in the form of scholarships to patients whose incomes qualify them for assistance. During 2008, the social work department distributed more than $40,000 in scholarships.

The employee giving committee is busy planning for special fund raising events to support this year's effort, and we are appealing to you, our employees, to make a personal gift to help us reach our goal. Your personal commitment will make this a success. Gifts at all levels will help!

Here are some examples of patients who have benefited from the Patient Needs Scholarship Fund:

  • There is a member in the Wellness Center who has a spinal cord injury. She has been a member for the last two years with assistance from the scholarship fund. With her hard work, and help from the Wellness Center staff, she has gained enough strength to now walk short distances, progresses more each day, and is hoping to return to work in the near future.
  • As a result of a tragic accident, a double amputee patient has been coming in for regular PT and OT appointments with the help of the scholarship fund, and went from being completely wheelchair bound to now being able to walk with a walker.
  • A child was poorly fitted for a hearing aid, causing a negative impact on their speech development. This problem was recently corrected and treated at our Speech & Hearing Center. This intervention was made possible by the scholarship fund.

** Employee gifts may also be directed to a specific program or service, or placed where the hospital most needs it.
